Activities We Did:
Play area, wagon ride, visited the farm animals, face painting.
Good to Go!:
- My daughter and I loved the animal farm. It’s clean and you can tell the animals are well taken care of. Lots of baby animals when we went. The 5 day-old fawn was sooo cute!
- The big slides in the hay looked like a ton of fun. The ladders are steep so I couldn’t help my daughter up while holding my son, but I did walk her half-way up the slide and she’d slide down from there (over and over and over again!
- I like the lounging chairs in the eating area. Nice setup and there’s also a small pond with fish that the children can look at while you relax.
- It was Canada Day when we went and Chudleigh’s had face painting and free balloons. My daughter had a little rainbow drawn on her face (I really didn’t think she’d let the lady near her so this was a bonus!), and she loved the balloon (although lost it later to the skies!).
Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:
- There are no outside lunches or drinks allowed inside Chudleigh’s. They advise you to eat your packed lunch outside by the pond (there’s one picnic table there). Food is on the pricey side and there’s not a lot to choose from so this didn’t sit well with me.
- There aren’t a lot of shaded areas. All of the kid’s play areas (sand pit, slides, hay maze, swings, retired tractors) have no shade. And there are only a couple picnic tables and chairs in the food area that are in the shade.
- It would have been nice if there were a few more things to do for toddlers/ younger kids but she was free so I shouldn’t complain too much!
Quick Tips for Others:
- If your kids go down the big slides, you might want to dress them in long pants so they don’t get their legs scratched by the hay at the bottom.
After going to a few other farms, I’m rating this a little better on “value” than when I first posted about it. I like the “feel” of this place and we’ll come back in the fall for apple picking and the play area!
