The class started out really well, but over the course of the program the instructor seems to have gotten lazy and has failed to maintain any real form of structure. This has led to a bunch of preschoolers simply running around with hula hoops, ribbons, etc. leaving us parents to try to rein them in.
There also hasn’t been any introduction of anything new… it has been the EXACT SAME since the first day. It’s really too bad… could be a great program.
Activities We Did:
There is a 45 minute music class. It’s only $34 for 8 sessions. It runs on Mondays or Wednesdays. Registration is required. It doesn’t run during the summer.
Good to Go!:
This is a great program for your kids once they have learned to walk or are fairly mobile. There is a play with toys time at the end of class and this is something the kids really look forward to.
Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:
At first it takes some getting used to because the kids can ignore the program and instead want to just run around and play with each other. In time, they learn some of the songs and get used to the format.
I don’t think the toys the kids play with at the end of each class are cleaned very often.
Quick Tips for Others:
There’s parking near Withrow park during the day and it’s close to Chester subway stations. Frankland also offers swimming classes in a warm indoor swimming pool.

Activities We Did:
Free time play for first 15 minutes. Then facilitator sings introduction song and couple other songs. More free play then couple more cirlce time songs with parachute then good bye song after clean up.
Good to Go!:
Good to get out to play and socialize with other kids and caregivers.
Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:
Facilitator can’t seem to get all participants to join in on all the circle time singing and lyrics of songs seem a little mixed up. Hard for my toddler to play as he still not walking on his own. Floors are not that clean as he likes to crawl and it’s cement floor, not carpeted so unsafe if one’s child is not walking yet.
Quick Tips for Others:
Check to see if you can just drop in to check out the class before joining to see if it fits your need(s).

Activities We Did:
Sat in a circle and sang songs with finger play, babies got to play with rattles and a big parachute, and the instructor blew bubbles at the end of the class.
Good to Go!:
Our instructor was very enthusiastic! As one of the other moms put it, she’d make a fantastic grandmother!
Only $32 for 9 classes. Definitely worth it.
I really like this community centre. It’s an old house with high ceilings and big windows. And there’s a playground and sand box outside you can use when it’s warm. Lots of parking too and the neighborhood is beautiful with big trees and beautiful houses.
Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:
The foam mats that we sat on were coming apart. One of the children got a hold of a loose piece and almost choked on it. They should be replaced!

Activities We Did:
Played on the gymnastics equipment for the hour! Had so much fun!
Good to Go!:
We had so much fun on the equipment! Balancing beam, monkey bars, trampoline, ball pit, and other foam gymnastic equipment. The floor is all covered in foam mats, so it’s safe.

The bathrooms are super clean. They have a step stools in front of the sinks for hand washing. I didn’t notice if they have a drop down change table or not, but there is counter space that could be used in case they don’t.
Quick Tips for Others:
Free parking. Free drop in program. Limited space, so it’s very important to arrive on time.

Activities We Did:
Trampoline, slide, tunnel, ramps, balance beam, hoola hoops, circle time
Good to Go!:
There were 2 rooms for the children to play in. Big windows so it was nice and bright, and lots of equipment for the kids to experiment with. There was circle time at the end where the instructors sang songs and the kids got a sticker at the end of it.
The instructors were very nice. They could have been a bit more involved with helping the children use the equipment.
Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:
The class was only 45 minutes so by the time my daughter warmed up to the equipment, it was circle time and then the end of the class.
It was way too crowded. Even with the 2 rooms there were too many children and caregivers. And a lot of the equipment can only accommodate one child at a time (trampoline, slide, balance beam etc) so the kids keep having to wait their turn which is good to learn, but you really don’t get much time to spend on the equipment.
Quick Tips for Others:
Socks only in the rooms to keep the floor and mats clean. The washroom has a change station in it for babies and you can park your stroller under the stairs.
I heard Birchount Gymnastics is really good. It’s expensive but might be worth the money!
