The public is becoming aware that zoos, Seaquariums and circuses are cruel places for animals. Tigers, Lions, flamingos, giraffes do not belong in our climate. In the winter they are confined and alone. These animals naturally roam far greater distances each day than they would on the 25 acres of this zoo. But mostly they just sit in cages – it is just like a very small jail cell would be for you. They should be hunting and eating their normal diet.
Capture for all animals, – dophins, whales, elephants, tigers is a violent, horrific and often fatal experience. These animals have a right to live their natural life in the wild and are important to the ecology of the planet.
It is not educational for anyone to see an animal outside of it’s natural habitat. In captivity, they have unnatural neurotic behaviours due to the mental and physical stresses they endure. The only thing zoos and circuses teach children is that it is okay to dominate animals and disrespect for nature.
Please investigate what I am telling you, you will find that there is a new awareness and empathy and great regret for what we have done to these intelligent, sentient beings. Animals are here with us, not for our entertainment. Thank you for considering my comment.

Event/ Program/ Class Name: Private Zoo

    Activities We Did:

Walked around the zoo, saw and fed animals, watched an interactive show, had lunch, played on the playground, and bought a souvenir from the gift shop.

    Good to Go!:

The Elmvale Zoo is about 15 min from Wasaga Beach and well worth a visit. For a small private zoo, it is very well kept and a fun way to spend a few hours.
The paths are tree lined with plenty of shade on hot days and easy to get around with a small child or a stroller. All the expected animals and birds are there and I was surprised how many animals they actually had. My daughter enjoyed feeding the deer, goats, monkeys and giraffes. There are cones of food and bananas for purchase around the park and in the gift shop on entrance.
The short show had a lion cub, wolf pup, turtle, snake and birds and was lots of fun. The kids actually touched the huge boa!
There is a large covered eating area and one side of it has fans if you are hot. It was clean when we were there over the Canada Day long weekend.
I loved that we got around the whole park quite easily and weren’t hot ,tired, or rushing around or leaving sections out. For children, this zoo is perfect.
    Parking is free!
There are handwashing stations and hand sanitizer pumps around.

Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:

I agree that some of the bird cages did appear small. However, small animals, such as the baby lemurs aren’t confined and allowed to roam. The other animals are let out when the zoo is closed and the zoo is known for preserving wildlife, and flora and fauna. I think they do an excellent job.

    Quick Tips for Others:

The food is typical hotdogs, burgers, fries, etc., It wasn’t too bad but I suggest packing your own food and drinks. Also, bring your own bananas to feed the animals and save. The zoo, like others, is NOT NUT FREE so be aware if your child has allergies.
This is a really nice place and you can get through it in a few hours max. I suggest planning accordingly and combining with a trip to the beach:)

Walked around the Zoo. Visited the animals. Fed the animals.

    Good to Go!:

Lots of Animals to see. Clean. Easy to get around with a stroller. Lots of kids and parents there.

Not so Much/ Suggestions for Improvement:

Sad to see some of the animals in what seems to be cages that were too small for them. Especially the big birds.
